Sacred Womens Walk May 5th 2023

Since 2017, May 5th has been known nationally as a day of recognition and action to address historic and ongoing injustices and violence towards MMIWG2S relations. People, across all territories, observe the day by wearing red clothing or displaying red dresses to bring public attention to the harm which impacts the lives of Indigenous families and communities every day. It is with gratitude that we share some images from this year’s event held on the Lkwungen speaking territories of the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations.

IPS strives to create action through education by supporting Indigenous self-determination and by contributing to improved outcomes for all Indigenous children, families and communities. We were honoured to co-plan and attend this important event with community partners and all who participated.
