IPS Cultural Activity Day | Bannock Making with Laurie MacDonald

On April 29, 2022, Indigenous Perspectives Society: Centre of Excellence in Community Education, (IPS), held a team activity of making Bannock in our training room. It was lovely to get together and connect with each other and our very special guest, and Elder, Laurie MacDonald!! Laurie walked us through the process of making Bannock and it was delightful.

The team also held a sharing circle for Karman Lippitt, IPS Business Development and Communications Coordinator, as she prepares to relocate from these territories to Ontario to be closer to her family. Laughter, tears, and memories were shared between our IPS family members. Karman will continue to work remotely with IPS, so this wasn’t a forever goodbye. Karman will always be part of the IPS family. She has brought great work, active listening ears, warm friendly welcomes and support to both clients and our team.

April Reeve's Birthday cake

We also celebrated team member, April Reeve’s Birthday. April is a treasured member of our team and does important work coordinating our Indigenous Caregivers of B.C. program.

The Littles, Christina Gosselin’s relatives, got to enjoy the medicine room, children’s storybooks, and drawing. They also connected with IPS staff by making silly faces, playing peek-a-boo, and learning about the steps to making Bannock!

That’s a wrap! We hope you enjoy these images as much as we do.
