Supervisory Practice: Indigenous Leadership and Supervision Practice
Delivered by the Indigenous Perspectives Society: Centre of Excellence in Community Education (IPS), Supervisory II: Indigenous Leadership and Supervision Practice builds on foundational supervisory skills and deepens participants’ culturally grounded leadership practice. While this course is designed as a continuation of Supervisory Foundations: Indigenous Leadership and Supervision Training it is not a pre-requisite required prior to taking Supervisory II.
This three-day training balances teachings, applied learning, and reflection to enhance participants’ capacity to communicate effectively, navigate conflict, guide teams, and make value-based decisions. The course emphasizes relational leadership grounded in humility, accountability, and community well-being.
Learning Outcomes:
- Develop effective communication and listening skills for leadership
- Understand and transform conflict in healthy, culturally grounded ways
- Apply participatory and inclusive approaches to decision-making
- Build and sustain strong, trusting, and value-driven teams
- Lead and manage organizational change with compassion and clarity
- Strengthen human resource practices, performance management, and supervisory accountability in alignment with AOPSI standards
Through dialogue, experiential learning and case studies, participants will strengthen their ability to lead with integrity, guide staff with confidence and foster organizational environments that foster Indigenous worldviews and community values.
In addition to the annual sponsored deliveries of this training, IPS also offers private deliveries of Supervisory I and Supervisory II for Indigenous Child and Family Service Organizations and Agencies (both Delegated and non-Delegated).
