Job Title: Food Distribution and Administrative Support/Community Service Worker (Canada Summer Jobs)
Reports to: Community Programs Coordinator (CPC)
Role: Facilitate and assist with overseeing all food security initiatives (Food Hampers, Gift of Good Food, Emergency Food Program, Get Growing, and more). Provides administrative support to staff members, volunteers, and our community. Implement all aspects of Food & Administrative Support role in conjunction with the Community Programs Coordinator.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· Performs building opening and closing procedures as required
· Photocopies, faxes and scans documents for the community and other staff
· Prepares computer generated documents, forms, and promotional material upon the request of other staff
· Tracks numbers of visitors and other statistics as required (non-program)
· Signs users in and out of public-access computer and tracks for statistics
· Receives payments for program and rental use, providing receipts and registering participants as necessary
· Works collaboratively with Food Distribution volunteers and oversees the receiving, bagging, and distribution of all donations
· Increases food security through improving access to affordable, high-quality food
· Co-facilitates and implements the Get Growing, Victoria! Program
· Sorts and stores donated clothing and housewares for Clothing Room
· Assists the CSP coordinator with monitoring the Clothing Room, tidying when needed and assisting volunteers. Monitors use of Clothing Room and provides bags to visitors
· Monitors public telephone use
· Keeps upper floor of Centre clean (dishes, kitchen, tables, furniture, papers, etc.)
· Remits Building Service Requests as needed
· Tidies/updates display rack & bulletin boards. Post notices of interest to the community
· Responds to general inquiries by phone and in person regarding QVCC and QVNG, and shares in the physical work of maintaining the Centre
· Participates to ensure a save environment; observes potential hazards; remedies and/or reports to the appropriate person
· Performs other related duties as required by the CPC and/or Executive Director
Qualifications:
· Committed to an anti-oppressive, decolonial, and anti-racist practice.
· Working towards diploma/degree in Child and Youth Care, Education, Social Work, Recreation, or other relevant area of study.
· An understanding of youth and community contending with issues such as poverty, food insecurity, mental health problems, and social isolation.
· Preference to candidates with experience working with a diverse population of cultures in a community setting.
· Preference with lived experience, knowledge, and/or awareness of First Nations populations and diverse cultures
· General knowledge of Food Safe procedures is an asset
· A clear vulnerable sector Criminal Record Check is required.
· Emergency First Aid
· Demonstrated ability in, and sensitivity and commitment to working with diverse populations
· Ability to work productively in an unstructured environment with frequent interruptions
· Capable of working independently
· Friendly and approachable demeanour
· Demonstrated ability to problem solve, network and provide connection for the community
· Proficient in basic computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheets and internet usage
· Record keeping skills
· Strong organizational skills
Applicants must be eligible for the Canada Summer Jobs program.
*To be eligible, youth must:
· be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;
· be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment. AND
· have a valid Social Insurance Number and be legally entitled to work in Canada according to the relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations

Hours of Work & Term:
· 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday
· 8-week position from July 6 to August 28, 2026
· Closed on Statutory Holidays
Remuneration & Benefits:
· $20.85/hour plus additional 6% vacation pay
· Immediate enrollment in the Employee & Family Assistance Program
· Paid training and development applicable to role
