This position can be based in any Ministry of Social Development and Poverty Reduction (SDPR) office. The locations listed in the online posting are to assist applicants in searching for this opportunity and are not a complete list of locations.

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 5 days at home per week as per the Telework Agreement.

Equity Internship Program
$60,785.98 annually, plus $54.75 bi-weekly Isolation allowance for Fort Nelson; $37.64 bi-weekly isolation allowance for Smithers.

The Equity Internship Program (EIP) is a 12 to 24 month internship program for those that identify as Black, Indigenous and People of Colour (BIPOC) and/or Two-Spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual, and/or other community members (2SLGBTQIA+).
The goals of the EIP are to:

•    Encourage BIPOC and 2SLGBTQIA+ people to consider careers within SDPR
•    Recruit a more representative workforce
•    Support the development of leadership skills for BIPOC and 2SLGBTQIA+ people
•    Help address social and economic barriers that exist for BIPOC and 2SLGBTQIA+ people

Qualifications for this role include:

•    Self-identify as BIPOC and/or 2SLGBTQIA+
•    Live in BC while employed with the BC Public Service
•    Secondary school graduation or equivalent (for example, GED)
•    Two years demonstrated leadership skills and experience

Related leadership experience may be gained through work, community or volunteer opportunities and may include:

•    Managing projects or project components
•    Supporting the design, delivery, and/or evaluation of projects or programs
•    Searching, gathering, and examining information and summarizing the research findings
•    Developing presentations, and/or support materials for meetings or events
•    Organizing and prioritizing your and/or other people’s work
