Child Protection covers many essential and valuable topics in weeks seven and eight of the Indigenous Child and Family Services Training (ICFST). Some of the topics that will be covered in Child Protection include:
- Role and Mandate
- Indicators of Abuse and Neglect
- Intake and Investigation
- Court Skills
The ICFST program is a unique program delivered within the community context of the Indigenous Child and Family Serving Agencies and it provides a range of information regarding practices and a collaborative approach to practice within Indigenous communities in B.C.
The Indigenous Child and Family Services Training Program incorporates thorough coverage of the technical skills and knowledge relating to the Child, Family and Community Service Act, and other relevant legislation and policy. The delivery of the curriculum is structured to reflect the cumulative authorities of the Delegation Matrix.
As such, individuals that participate in Voluntary Services then proceed to Guardianship and Child Protection.
