Indigenous Perspectives Society is recruiting for our newly launched L.E.A.D.R.S. Mentorship Program! 

Are you a youth looking to grow your professional skills in a supportive and diverse environment? Do you find value in decolonizing and uplifting Indigenous voices? 

The Indigenous Perspectives Society Youth L.E.A.D.R.S. Mentorship Program exists to provide young people ages 16 – 25 with opportunities to develop professional and interpersonal skills in an office environment and gain work experience in various areas of interest. Our mission is to provide culturally relevant training, research, and policy that advances and strengthens the lives of Indigenous peoples.  

Who Can Apply 

  • Youth ages 16 – 25 
  • All identities and backgrounds welcome. Preference will be given to Indigenous youth. 

What’s Involved 

The program involves 40 hours of in-office mentorship over two-month period at the Indigenous Perspective Society, located in Langford, BC. The following objectives aim to provide guidance and support to mentees to help them develop skills, confidence, and resilience within a professional environment.

Choose Your Pathway  

During welcoming and orientation, the youth mentee will be able to choose one of the following pathways which they would like to grow their skills. 

  • Communications 
  • Promotions & Networking 
  • Administration 
  • Curriculum Development

In addition to growing knowledge and skills, chosen youth will be provided with: 

  • Honorarium of $700 CAD received upon successful completion of program 
  • Opportunity to build life skills and lessons that are not typically taught in mainstream education system
