From 2013-2022, Indigenous Perspectives Society: Centre of Excellence in Community Education (IPS) provided transition back pack kits for children in care. Backpacks were assembled for a range of ages from 0-2, 3-5, 6-12, and 13-18 years old. The back packs helped children in care have a few things of their own to help them get through a difficult time.
The kits included bibs, sippy cups, and toys for the little ones, tablets, mp3 players, books, puzzles and art supplies for the other age ranges. IPS gratefully acknowledges the generous support from our local community, who offered donations of goods and discounts on purchases of goods to fill the back packs over the years that our staff and volunteers delivered the project.
