Job Title:  Early Years Programs Coordinator

Reports to: Child & Family Programs Coordinator

Primary Role:

·        Administration and supervisory responsibilities for Early Years team

·        Program Development and Delivery

·        Family Outreach and Best Babies (pre and postnatal) Program facilitation

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

·        Provides a safe and welcoming space for community, removing barriers for program attendance

·        Ensures the maintenance and tabulation of attendance and statistics in Early Years programs, including Parent/Tot Drop-in, Kinder Gym, Family Music and Best Babies. Generates quarterly and other reports related to these program areas

·        Participates in quarterly CAPC meetings and provide updates regarding CAPC funded programs to Child and Family Programs Coordinator (CFPC). Provides reports and statistics as requested

·        Facilitates staff hiring, orientation/training and professional development. Completes and delivers staff performance appraisals, creating and implementing actionable items for development

·        Attends Early Years programs as required, to provide supervision and be available for coverage due to staff absences

·        Co-facilitates on-site Best Babies Program in partnership with Fernwood Neighbourhood Resource Group (FNRG)

·        Provides outreach, individual support, and system navigation for program involved families

·        Liaisons with the CFPC to provide continuity in Family Outreach Service caseload. Includes acting as a resource for Child Development and Positive Parenting information

·        Attends staff meetings and training when applicable, outside of regular core hours

·        Attends committee meetings at the discretion of CFPC

·        Is familiar with and implements QVCC’s policies, procedures and best practices

·        Participates to ensure a safe environment; observes potential hazards, remedies and/or reports to the appropriate person

·        Makes regular written and verbal reports as required by the CFPC and Executive Director

·        Assists with other related duties when required and approved by the CFPB and ED

Qualifications:

·        Degree in Child & Youth Care or Social Work, or diploma program in a relevant discipline (e.g.  Early Childcare), and extensive training and experience as outlined above

·        Minimum 1 year experience providing Outreach Support to families

·        Minimum 2 years of experience facilitating early childhood related activities and working with children birth to 5 years of age

·        Minimum 2 years relevant experience working directly with parents, care givers or other adults

·        Effective with basic computer applications (such as word processing, spreadsheets and internet usage), record keeping skills (for reporting, human resources and marketing) and organization and planning skills

·        Valid First Aid certificate

A Criminal Record Check will be conducted

Hours of Work:

·        20 hours per week. Core hours include 9:30-1:30pm Monday through Friday, plus additional monthly staff meetings or training, generally Fridays 2-4pm

*On-site and in-program needs may shift based on changing Public Health orders

Benefits and Remuneration:

·        $22.00 an hour (to be reviewed after 3-month probationary period)

·        6% vacation, paid out each pay period

·        Participation in the Benefits Program, including Extended Health & Dental, AD&D, Group Term Life, and RRSP Matching

·        Training and development workshops as they pertain to position
