Indigenous Child Care Counsellor
$62,255.85 – $70,557.73 annually
The Indigenous Child Care Counselor is responsible for providing cultural assessment, mental health assessment, care planning, treatment, discharge and community services for youth impacted by enduring and severe mental health challenges. Following established principles and guidelines of practice, the Indigenous Child Care Counsellor will plan cultural activities, teachings and quarterly feasts; perform various administrative duties that support program objectives; and perform other related duties as required. This position will be instrumental in supporting the development, creation and implementation of an enduring Indigenous program within the Maples Adolescent Treatment Centre.

Qualifications for this role include:
- 2-year Diploma in Social Work or Human Services (Human Services fields include Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, Anthropology, Early Childhood Education, Indigenous studies, Education, Child and Youth Care and Psychiatric Nursing) AND 2 years of related experience*; OR
- An equivalent combination of education and related experience* may be considered.
*Related Experience:
- Experience working with Indigenous children and youth.
- Experience with gathering, assessing, and writing reports.
- Experience with counselling adolescents individually, and in group settings.
- Experience working directly with youth in a related setting.
