Job Summary – Full time, term position

Indigenous Education in the Faculty of Education administers and offers programs and courses on and off campus in partnership and with advice from Indigenous community stakeholders. Programs and courses include on-campus undergraduate courses within the regular teacher education programs, undergraduate programs, which include the Certificate, Diploma and Bachelor of Education in Indigenous Language Revitalization, delivered in partnership with individual Indigenous language communities, as well as the Graduate Certificate, Masters and Doctoral courses in Indigenous Language Revitalization.

Reporting to the Administrative Officer, for the Graduate Programs, and the Indigenous Language Programs Manager, for the Undergraduate Programs, the Programs Assistant is responsible for the administrative and support functions of the Indigenous Education undergraduate and graduate programs. The Programs Assistant supports the day-to-day operation and delivery of the undergraduate off-campus, community-based, language specific cohorts (normally 2-4) and graduate language revitalization cohorts (normally 2). The Programs Assistant works closely with the Indigenous Language Programs Manager, Administrative Officer and the Chair of Indigenous Education, as well as faculty, students, instructors, community partners, community coordinators, and on-campus resource people to provide excellent customer service, balance multiple responsibilities and ensure the academic programs run smoothly. The Programs Assistant participates fully as an administration team member and has independent responsibility for management of daily workload.
