Communications & Engagement Coordinator

$67,728.87 – $77,012.22 annually

 

The Declaration Act Secretariat coordinates, guides and assists the cross-government effort to work in consultation and cooperation with Indigenous Peoples to align laws with the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. The Secretariat guides and assists ministries to deliver substantive measures to support a coherent, consistent and systemic implementation of the Declaration Act.

The Communications and Engagement Coordinator reports to the Director of Legislative Engagement and Change.  This position will support the external and internal strategic communications work of the Declaration Act Secretariat, as well as building and maintaining relationships with Indigenous partners and internal stakeholders.

The Communications and Engagement Coordinator brings proficiency in crafting communications products and thinks innovatively on how to effectively connect the work and services of the Secretariat to both internal stakeholders and Indigenous partners.

Qualifications for this role include:

·        Bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Relations, English, or related field

·        Experience in public/media relations, corporate communications and stakeholder engagement in a large organization.

·        Professional writing experience (e.g.: engagement and communication plans, new releases, backgrounders, publications content, speech writing, notes and strategies for legislative introductions, web content etc.).

·        An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
