About CFUV:

CFUV 101.9FM is a volunteer-driven campus and community radio station located on the traditional, unceded, unsurrendered territories of the Ləkʷəŋən Peoples (Songhees ̓ and Esquimalt Nations) and WSÁNEĆ Peoples (Malahat, Pauchquachin, Tsawout, Tsarlip, and Tseycum Nations), now known as Victoria, BC. CFUV aims to provide valuable resources, support, and opportunities to the diverse communities that exist in Victoria.

Job Description:

CFUV is hiring two Indigenous Media Producers. The Indigenous Media Producers are each responsible for the creation of 3-5 podcast episodes that center Indigenous stories, issues, communities, and/or languages. The roles will receive support, mentorship, and training from CFUV and will work through the entire podcast development, production, and distribution sequence.

These positions are experiential learning opportunities for individuals with an interest in storytelling, journalism and learning new skills. Prior experience is an asset but not required. These positions will receive support and mentorship from CFUV’s full-time Indigenous Programming Coordinator and other CFUV employees.

Each producer will be responsible for:

-Completing 3-5 podcast episodes between 35-60 minutes including:
-Narrative development, story pitching
-Research and script-writing
-Conducting interviews, narration, and audio production
-Final edits
-Working collaboratively with the Indigenous Programming Coordinator, other CFUV
employees, and CFUV’s Podcasting team
-Other tasks as assigned

-Interest in storytelling and journalism
-Interest in learning and building audio production skills
-Written and verbal communication skills
-Ability to manage multiple projects and consistently meet deadlines
-Ability to work and make decisions independently and in collaboration with others


Working Period: January 24th, 2022 – June 10th, 2022 (20 weeks) Remuneration: $16.00 for 15-18 hours/week

These positions are funded by the Government of British Columbia and the Community Radio Fund of Canada. This position is open to work-from-home/remote work situations.
