Business Development and Communications Coordinator

Website Indigenous Perspectives Society

With a staff of 15 and an annual budget of over $2 million, the Indigenous Perspectives Society: Centre of Excellence in Community Education is committed to promoting the well-being of Indigenous people, specifically through providing culturally relevant training, research and policy. Over the past several years, the Society has successfully offered cultural competency training on a fee-for-service basis to individual, non-profit, government and business clients.

In 2015, the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s final report called for cultural competency training for all of Canada’s professionals, public servants and business leaders. The Society has developed a business plan to respond to the growing demand for sensitive and deep cultural competency training. The Business Development and Communications Coordinator will liaise with clients, implement a marketing plan, implement a fundraising plan, and create opportunities for long-term sustainable growth.

The ideal candidate will be entrepreneurial by nature and will have proven success in a business development role. The Business Development and Communications Coordinator will identify and respond to opportunities to build our organizational profile. We see the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action as a historic opportunity to lay the groundwork for a spirit of genuine reconciliation in Canada. If you are a motivated and confident business developer with a commitment to improving the lives of Indigenous people in Canada, we would like to meet you.

*Preference will be given to persons of Indigenous ancestry as per Section 41 of the BC Human Rights Code. Only successful applicants will be contacted. The successful applicant will be required to undergo a criminal record check.
